A review of recent decisions and a preview of select critical religious liberty cases coming in 2019. This discussion will focus on the constitutional right of the free exercise of religion and the recent attacks on this right throughout the nation. Updates will be provided on Masterpiece Cakeshop Part II, Arlene’s Flowers, Tree of Life Christian Schools, and Students for Life v. Abrego. An application requesting MCLE credit for this activity is pending for approval by the State Bar of California to allow a one-half hour credit for those who wish to attend just the first 30 minutes of the presentation and a one hour credit for those who attend the entire participatory lecture.
Andrew Rauch has over 30 years of civil litigation experience with an emphasis in real property, eminent domain, business, tort defense and civil rights. Prior to his legal career, he was employed in the California State Senate and managed local and statewide initiatives. His clients include public entities, religious and political organizations, property and business owners and their insurers. He is a contributing author to two textbooks on real property and condemnation practice in California and a frequent lecturer in his fields of expertise.
