About the Event

John Burt Polhamus is a native San Diego catholic, raised in St. Brigid's Parish, Pacific Beach. He has been active in music and liturgy in San Diego since the early 1980's, serving a variety of parishes including St, Brigid's, San Rafael, St. Mary's Escondido, and St. Columba, as cantor or choir director. As a professional musician, he lived and performed in London, where he gained experience of English catholicism through his work in support of the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales. In 2001, he inadvertently founded Chorus Breviarii San Diego, a Gregorian Chant Study and Litirgical Prayer Group, many of the members of which now comprise the Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego, seculars of the Congregation of the Oratory, affiliated at London. Since Advent of 2018 he is currently the Choir Master of Holy Martyrs of England and Wales Catholic Church, Murrieta, of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, under Bishop Stephen Lopes.
